Relations with Pakistan growing at fast speed: Ukraine ambassador

ISLAMABAD, DEC 20 (DNA) Ambassador of Ukraine Volodymyr Lakomov has said relations between Pakistan and Ukraine are constantly on the move adding people to people contacts between the two countries have improved also.

He expressed these views while addressing a press conference on Wednesday.

The ambassador addressed the press conference in order to share some salient features of 100 years of diplomatic service of Ukraine.

During course of his briefing, he highlighted various aspects of the diplomatic serves and shed light on those prominent personalities of Ukraine who had played central role towards that end.

Ambassador Lakomov while talking about the bilateral cooperation said, ever since his arrival in Pakistan he had focused much on promoting bilateral relations in all fields.

He said Pakistan recognized Ukraine in 1992 and since then both countries have been cooperating with each other in various fields.

The ambassador also share some highlights of the cooperation in defence sector and said in 1996 Pakistan got state of the art and modern tanks from Ukraine.

He also talked about Pakistan students going for higher studies to Ukraine and said the number of Pakistani students has crossed figure of 2,000. Still many students are in contact with the embassy to get students visas, which shows Pakistani students great interest in the education system and Ukraine.

He said he and his embassy staff was always there to help not only students but those intending to go to Ukraine for tourism and business purposes.=DNA
