Shawwal moon sighted, nation celebraes Eid-ul-Fitr
KARACHI: The Shawwal moon was sighted in the country on Pakistan and Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, the central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced.
A meeting of central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Karachi under the chairmanship of Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman for the Shawwal moon sighting.
The announcement regarding moon sighting was made by Mufti Muneeb after testimonies were received from different parts of the country.
Besides the central committee, zonal committees also held their meetings in major cities of the country to collect testimonies regarding the sighting of Shawwal moon.
Testimonies regarding sighting of moon were received from Faisalabad, Kashmore, Rahim Yar Khan, Lahore, Sadiqabad, Pasni, Kamra, Ghotki, Bahawalpur, Sui, Quetta, Shikarpur and other parts of the country, according to Mufti Muneeb.
KP celebrates Eid a day earlier
People in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are celebrating Eid-ul Fitr today after the provincial government announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will officially be celebrated in the province on June 4.
The KP government had made the announcement after taking into account ‘testimonies’ of moon sighting all over KP, according to KP Information Minister Shaukat Yousufzai.
The self-proclaimed Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Masjid Qasim Ali Khan has announced to celebrate Eid today in light of the moon sightings testimonies from several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
