ISLAMABAD, April 21 (DNA): Chairman of Pakistan’s Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Mushahid Hussain Syed says Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to Iran would reinforce confidence and trust between Tehran and Islamabad.

Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed said the visit would also built strong political ties between the leaders of Iran and Pakistan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan is paying an official visit to Iran on 21-22 April 2019 on the invitation of President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani. This is the first visit of the Prime Minister to Iran.

“As Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs I warmly welcome the visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the Islamic Republic of Iran which is our neighbor, which is our very traditionally close friend with whom we have mutuality of interest,” Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed said.

Chairman of the Pak-China Institute went on to say the visit sends a very positive message from Pakistan, its government, its people and parliament to the people of Iran. He added Pakistan rejects all kinds of negative propaganda against Iran.

“Pakistan has very strong strategic ties with Iran and we want to further strengthen those ties at the political level, at the economic level and at the security level,” the Senator said.

The lawmaker expressing his views said there are issues between Iran and Pakistan particularly security, ‘we have common enemy in terms of terrorism and extremism and we will combat that enemy together because it is in the interest of both Iran and Pakistan.’

The Senator to a question said declaring state entities and institutions of states with the label of terrorism, is not right, this is wrong.

Referring to the US move against the IRGC, the parliamentarian said the organization they have labeled as terrorist is part of the Iranian state and the security system and this kind of labeling is counterproductive.

“This kind of labeling creates unnecessary tensions in the region,” viewed Mushahid Hussain Sayed.
