Pak-China relations to get further boost, says Zhao Lijian

Islamabad, Nov. 3 (DNA): Sino-Pak multifaceted brotherly relationship will get further boost, following the historical decisions made by the recently concluded 19th National Congress of Communist Party of China (CPC),  said Zhao Lijian, Charge d’ Affairs of the Chinese Embassy here on Friday.

The 19th National Congress of the CPC while reviewing the party’s constitution made the Belt and Road initiative (BRI) a part of it.

Since the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a pilot, major and flagship project of the BRI, it will have a positive and lasting impact on further development of Sino-Pak socio-economic strategic partnership.

The implementation of CPEC is going on fast-track and the very small section of the people who criticize it would also soon realize its long-term benefits, he said adding the CPEC carries largest number of projects as compared to other corridors and it gets high importance in socio-economic partnership of the two countries.

Zhao Lijian was briefing a group of senior journalists on China’s major economic and social achievements in the last five years and the country’s future road-map in the context of 19th National Congress that he said was an important political activity. It gave a clear direction and proposed a blueprint for China’s future development and its relations with foreign countries.

The Congress’s delegates were agreed on major issues of the party and national development plans, while electing a new collective leadership of the CPC’s Central committee.

Since the 18th CPC National Congress, China has made remarkable achievements in its reforms, opening up and modernization drive, he said adding the 19TH Congress also came out with highly successful results in deciding a future course of action, achieving its broad-based economic goals and for poverty alleviation.

He also referred to the report presented before the Congress by President Xi Jinping and said it explained China’s foreign policies and guidelines in the new era.

It was decided that China will continue to hold high the banner of peace, development and win-win cooperation. In its foreign policy, China will uphold principles of justice and sincerity, honesty, affinity and good faith.

The country will work to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with other developing countries including Pakistan. China will foster a new type of international relations and build a community with a shared future for mankind.

It was decided by the highest decision-making body that the country will build a moderately prosperous society in all respects and adhere to socialism with Chinese characteristics.

However he made it clear that in pursuit of this goal, no compromise shall be made on elimination of corruption and dispelled the impression as if the corruption issue may go to backburner.

Zhao further said, “Xi Jinping’s thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” has been included into the Party’s Constitution. The party’s report is a political declaration and a guide of action to start new journey in the new era.

China will push forward a new type of ties and will discuss and collaborate with other nations in building a community of shared destiny for mankind.

As stated by President Xi, the country will firmly stick to the basic national policy of opening-up, and will take more measures to this direction.

The Congress adopted a timetable and road-map to turn China into a modern socialist country. They will be willing to provide the world with China’s opportunities, wisdom, solution, experience and knowledge to inject more powerful positive energy into the international community.=DNA
