Kashmiri students being forcibly pushed towards extremism: Jama’at

SRINAGAR, NOV 11 (DNA): Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir vehemently condemned the intimidation of students studying in and outside the valley in different educational institutions by the Indian agencies.

Jama’at in a statement said that in the universities and colleges outside Jammu and Kashmir, scores of students have been so far arrested by different Indian agencies on ‘false and frivolous’ grounds besides the pre-planned attacks on them by the communalist elements forcing a good number of Kashmiri students to give up their studies in between.

“Despite assurances by the university and other authorities, there is no sign of any relief to them. During the previous night, these unruly forces have picked up two innocent students Suhail and Ismael from their rented accommodation in Nowgam without informing the Central University authority where the both are studying in the department of Political Science,” Jama’at said.

Jama’at said that these arrests seem to be a part of well-designed plan to deter the youth of Kashmir from continuing their higher studies and to push them towards extremism.

“Their families have neither been informed of their arrest nor the grounds thereof which is a blatant violation of the human rights happening unfortunately only in the valley. These unbridled forces have let loose a reign of terror throughout the valley and made the life of a common man a virtual hell,” he said.

Jama’at while demanding unconditional release of detained students, expressed its solidarity with the detained students and their families and impressed upon the human rights organizations to come forward and take proper and effective steps for the safeguard of the life and liberty of the hapless people of Kashmir, facing the worst kind of oppression at the hands of the Indian forces and other allied agencies.=DNA
