Govt prepares madrassas registration form

ISLAMABAD, MAY 06 (DNA) – Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said on Monday that madrassas across the country are being associated with the Ministry of Education. 10 regional offices will be opened for the registration of madrassas.

Addressing to a press conference, he said that unregistered madrassas will be closed down. He expressed that government wants to improve the quality of madrassa education for which it will do every possible thing.

Federal Education Minister asserted that the registration of madrassas has no connection with the 18th amendment. All the institutions are mindful with the government for this step, he added.

On April 30, The National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) compiled a report on geo-tagging and registration of all the madrassas in Pakistan and announced to bring them under the Ministry of Education. = DNA

Meeting reviews progress on FATF Action Plan

ISLAMABAD, MAY 06 (DNA) – A meeting to review progress on Financial Action Task Force Action Plan was held in Islamabad Monday with Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh in the chair.

The Secretary Finance updated all the key stakeholders on the critical nature of the meeting, serious challenges at hand and top priority that is being assigned by the government.

The Chair was updated by all the key stakeholders regarding progress made by Pakistan on FATF Action Plan. The stakeholders demonstrated coordination and commitment to achieve this national objective. The Chair advised all stakeholders to work round the clock and give highest priority, efforts as well as extra time for achieving and surpassing to FATF action plan.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Finance, Secretary Interior, Chairman FBR, Chairman SECP, Deputy Governor SBP, Director General FMU, Director General CT Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director General CT NACTA and representatives of Law enforcement and intelligence agencies. = DNA
