FPCCI president seeks govt help for textile industry

 

 

LAHORE APRIL 12 (DNA) -Federation of Pakistan Chambers and Commerce President Engineer Daroo Khan Achakzai Friday urged the government to take effective steps for making the value-added textile industry competitive and vibrant in global market.

 

He expressed these views while visiting various stalls during his visit to 4-day TEXPO, 2019 exhibition being  held at Expo Center. SAARC Chamber Senior Vice President and United Business Group (UBG) Iftikhar Ali Malik also joined him on this occasion.

 

Daroo Khan said this is a great opportunity for Pakistani businessmen as many foreign investors and buyers are invited to  this mega exhibition and they can develop direct links as well as provide an opportunity to understand each other’s business viewpoints. He underscored the need of exploring non-conventional international markets for bring big boost in export volume of the country.

 

He said we understand that in the present circumstance there was a great need of launching aggressive marketing plan to boost exports of the country adding that currently our exports on down trend. He said that exporter community will play its instrumental role in enhancing the export volume which the ultimate goal of the government.

 

Daroo Khan further said we should support trade activities particularly those pertaining to growth of exports. “I am hopeful, this event shall be a big success,” he added. He said the good thing is that private sector in Pakistan is working very hard to introduce advance production techniques and machinery to upgrade the quality of our products.

 

Iftikhar Ali Malik who jointly visited the TEXPO said the holding of such events would be beneficial for the local textile industry and that there would be enhancement in the country’s exports.He urged the government to help the private sector playing active role in global market besides seeking direct access to US and European markets instead of relying on foreign aids and loans to boost the economy of the country.

 

He further suggested that the government should take drastic step for establishing Garment Export Council in public-private sector to monitor production and export performance as well as to formulate appropriate policy for Textile apparel sector. The proposal of garment export council had already approved and the government should expedite the process of setting up council.

 

Iftikhar Ali Malik said business community reposed full confidence in the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan and now it is the government’s turn to create business friendly environment in the country to speed up economic activities. He said Pakistan is an ideal country for investors and joint venturing, whereby peace has been restored to our cities as a result of various security operations. The economic stability which we enjoy today in Karachi is a testament to this peace.=DNA
