ECC suspends hike in power tariff
ISLAMABAD, SEPT 25 (DNA) – Providing momentarily relief to inflation-riddled masses, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has on Tuesday temporarily suspended decision to further hike electricity tariff for one week.
As per details garnered, ECC will now mull over hiking tariff in the next huddle schedule to take place in Islamabad next week. Finance minister Asad Umar will chair the session of ECC.
Earlier, it was being reported that ECC might hike gas tariff by Rs2 per unit domestic consumers.
Contrary to finance minister’s claim that masses would not be hit by hike, sources privy to development revealed it will affect only domestic consumers whereas same would not have any major impact on industrial consumers.
