RAWALPINDI, MAY 05 (DNA) – Chief of Army Staff confirmed death sentences awarded to 11 hardcore terrorists. Besides, 3 convicts have also been awarded imprisonment.

These terrorists were involved in heinous offences related to terrorism, i.e. attacking Armed Forces/ Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan, Malakand University, destruction of various educational institutions and killing of innocent civilians including Mr Imran Khan Mohmind, a Member of Provincial Assembly (KPK).

On the whole, they were involved in killing of 60 persons including 36 civilians, 24 Armed Forces/Frontier Constabulary/ Police Officials and injuring 142 others. Arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession. These convicts were tried by special military courts.

1. Burhan Uddin S/O Umar Daraz, Shaheer Khan S/O Rehman Uddin and Gul Faraz Khan S/O Wasli Khan. All the convicts were members of proscribed organization. They were involved in attacking the funeral ceremony of Civilian Abdullah, at Zargrano Killi, Sher Ghar (Mardan), which resulted in death of 30 Civilians including Mr Imran Khan Mohmind, a Member of Provincial Assembly (KPK) and injuries to 100 others.

These convicts admitted their offences before the Magistrate and the trial court. All convicts were awarded death sentences.
2. Muhammad Zeb S/O Muhammad Nawab. The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Naib Subedar Muhammad Hanif, Havildar Muhammad Naseer, Havildar Muhammad Qayyum alongwith 2 other soldiers and injuries to 6 others. He was also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives.

The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
3. Saleem S/O Abdul Mateen. The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in killing of innocent civilians and attacking Armed Forces/ Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan, which resulted in death of 3 civilians,4 soldiers and injuries to 12 others. He was also involved in destruction of Government High School, Dherai (Swat). The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
4. Izat Khan S/O Ajib ul Bahar. The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in killing of innocent civilians and attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan as well as Malakand University, which resulted in death of a civilian, 4 police officials and injuries to 7 others.

The convict was also involved in destruction of 3 different educational institutions. Moreover, he was found in possession of fire-arms and explosives. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
5. Muhammad Imran S/O Hazrat Umar. The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Naik Ghulam Hassan, Naik Ifitkhar Ali alongwith a soldier and injuries to 4 others.

He was also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
6. Yousaf Khan S/O Ahmed Jan. The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in killing of an innocent civilian and attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of 2 soldiers and injuries to 4 others. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
7. Nadir Khan S/O Amir Rehman. The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan which resulted in death of Havildar Muhammad Ismail alongwith a soldier. He was also found in possession of fire-arms and explosives. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
8. Muhammad Arif Ullah Khan S/O Zareen Gul. The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan which resulted in death of 2 soldiers and injuries to 7 others.

The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
9. Bakht Muhammad Khan S/O Ghawas Khan. The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in killing of a civilian and attacking Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of 2 soldiers and injuries to 2 others. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
