Chinese embassy hosts grant cultural event
ISLAMABAD, OCT 27 (DNA) – The Cultural office of the Embassy of the Peoples Republic of China in collaboration with China Cultural Center in Pakistan and Network of International Cultural Link Entities organized and Exhibition of “ Sanmao the Forever Young Wandering Down the Shanghai Alleys.
The Cultural Counselor of Embassy of China in Pakistan Mr. You Yi was the chief guest and he inaugurated the Exhibition of “ Sanmao the Forever Young Wandering Down the Shanghai Alleys” accompanied by Ms. Li Shuo, Deputy Director of China Cultural Centre in Pakistan, Mr. Jamal Shah DG PNCA, Tanvir Abbas Jafari, Director China Study Centre in Comsat University, Ms. Atiya Qutab, President All Pakistan China Friendship Association, Mr. Wang Ning, Cartoonist, Ms. Nei Jing Hui, Caroonist along with other eminent guests.
Cultural Counsellor Mr. You Yi wlcomed all the participants, who had come from different educational institutions of Islamabad and Abbottabad, their teachers and renowned guest.
He said that the exhibition aimed to provide a platform to the Pakistan and Chinese visitors specially students to interact directly with the Chinese Artists and to enquire about the comic stories and different character of Sanmao Cartoon character.
He also explained about the exhibition that San Mao was a very poor orphan. He was wandering in Shanghai where people dreamed of riches in the 1930’s.
Sanmao is a manhua character created by Zhang Leping in 1935. He is one of the world’s longest running cartoon characters and remains a landmark as one of the most famous and beloved fictional characters in China today.=DNA
