ISLAMABAD, OCT 19 (DNA) The embassy of Argentine Republic held a flower offering ceremony at Argentine Park on Wednesday. Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA Sheikh Anser Aziz was the chief guest.

The ceremony was arranged in connection with celebration of 65 years of Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Argentina and Pakistan. The Argentina Park was established in 1973, which speaks volumes for the strong bonds of ties between the two countries.

The Mayor of Islamabad while speaking on the occasion assured the Argentina embassy that Municipal Corporation of Islamabad would do its best to preserve this relationship.

He said, saplings shall be planted in the Argentina Park on large scale during coming monsoon season.

The Mayor further said, beatification of Islamabad was his top priority and the Municipal Corporation shall leave no stone unturned towards this end.

Ambassador of Argentina Ivan Ivanissevich in his speech gave a detailed account of Argentina-Pakistan relations.

He said, In January 1948 Argentina opened a consulate in Karachi and since then relations between the two countries are on the move.

The Ambassador further said our countries are victims are consequences of poverty therefore we need to take collective measures to root out this menace.

He said the Argentina Park is the best example of strong bilateral relations. People of Argentina therefore are indebted to Pakistan for allocating this space for this park.

“Let me assure you that this park shall be made more beautiful in the coming days. We look forward to hosting a number of events this month and next month in order to further strengthen these relations”.

Members of diplomatic corps, civil society and media attended the event.  =DNA
